The choir performs choral repertoire ranging fromthe classics and Gospel to Broadway and from Medieval tothe 2lst century. The Karen Schuessler Singers has becomenoted for its concerts addressing the issues of our worldand the human condition. Themes have included slavery,the environment, multicultural understanding, intentionalspiritual journeys as well as simple "feel good" concertssuch as "Strawberry Fields", "Pirates of Penzance" andBroadway.The Karen Schuessler Singers is proud to work withsome of London and Canada's finest established soloistsand instrumentalists while providing opportunities formany up-and-coming talents as guest artists.Rehearsals are Tuesdays 7:30-9:30 pm. We give highquality performances of choral music from all periods anddifferent genres, often multi-lingual. Our director is IsabelBerna us. We rehearse Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:45at St. Leonard'sAnglican Church, 25 Wanless Avenue, oneblock north of the Lawrence subway station. The choirperforms three concerts a year (four this year), as well asmaking community appearances.This year's concerts include appearances with theToronto Philharmonia Chorus and Orchestra with KerryStratton as music director and Vincent Cheng as chorusmaster. LuNDv's LANE UNITED CHURCH -NIAGARA FALLS MuSIC MINISTRIESLundy's Lane United Church (Methodist- 1794) is one ofthe oldest and most historic churches in Canada. Thechurch sits on the site of one of the battlegrounds from theWar of 1812. Laura Secord is buried beside the church.The old organ was replaced in 2002 with a Casavant 3-manual, 70-rank instrument. Well-known organists suchas Frederick Swann, Ken Cowan, Olivier La try and AndrewHenderson have performed thrilling recitals on thisinstrument! The concert committee has hosted manyoutstanding choirs from all over Canada, United Statesand Europe within the last 10 years.The sanctuary, which has excellent acoustics, is alsoair conditioned. The church is a supporter of the annualNiagara Music Festival held each summer and TheKiwanis Piano Competitions.
