While Pulse concert listings are free to all presenters, members or not, Pulse members occupy a special place in our scheme of things. For example, members are invited, upon joining, and every summer thereafter, to submit for publication a short PROFILE of themselves and their plans. Additionally, members enjoy significant discounts on display advertising throughout the season. And now, the introduction of our web page (January 1 1997) brings with it an additional range of member benefits. )l MUSICA VIVA & FRIENDS 892 Castlefield Ave. Toronto, Ontario M6B 1C8 Tel. 782-3116 Fax 480-0579 Artistic Director: Vicki Slechta The 1996-97 season marks the 16th anniversary of Musica Viva & Friends. The core ensemble of flutist Vicki Slechta, cellist Grigory Goldberg and pianist Cecilia lgnatieff presented their first recital at the Royal Conservatory Concert Hall in December 1980. For several years they performed as a trio and commissioned two works for this combination. The ensemble has grown to include oboist Senia Trubashnik and mezzo soprano Michele Gaudreau. With these "friends" and producer Srul Irving Glick they have released their first CD, Entre Nous in November 1995. Clyde Gilmour referred to the ensemble on CBC Radio as "one of Canada's most accomplished and versatile chamber ensembles" and Bob Kerr introduced the disc as "absolutely charming ... just plain beautiful 20th century music." Musica Viva will give its last Toronto performance of the season at the Glenn Gould Studio on February 27. PULSE 1 S (UN)CLASSIFIED ADS: FEBRUARY 1997 Flute/recorder/tin whistle player intereste
