Opening weekend will kick off with a special performance by Randy Bachman in the revived concert hall on Friday, June 23. The inaugural offering of the festival is presented by the Nathaniel Dett Chorale in association with the Yale Alumni Chorus and the Harriet Tubman Institute for Research on Africa and its Diasporas in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation. The theme of the festival is an Interrogation of the North Star and the legacy of the Underground Railroad through scholarly papers, choral music and dance.
