The company is c\edicated to provicling operatic performance opportunities for .Ca­ ·nadian talent in opera and concert. Outside of the Canadian Opera Company, Centuries Opera i~· the. , only company in Tor.onto to offer productions with a full orchestra, scenery and costumes. To encourage new talent we also offer · yearly opera workshops with seasoned professionals. Since 1993 we have produced Cavaleria Rusticana,, Tosca, La Traviata, , La Boheme, Madama Butterfly, L 'Elisir d 'Amore and many concerts in the Markham Theatre, Leah Posluns Theatre and the To'­ ronto Centre for the Arts. · We use professional orchest~a members of the Totonto Sym- · phony. In 1997 soprano Gerlinde .Strangemaru1 a~d the Centuries . Opera Orchestra, conducted by William Shookhoff released a CD. Favoured Melodies of Opera, Op- ' eretta and Lieder. Other conductors have included Roberto De Clara and Kerry Stratton. Since 1995 we have presented Opera · Magic, an evening of selections from op!!ra, Broadway and song; . this year, Opera Magic fe~tured a ·concert version of Madama Butterfly. .'/ The CMC exists to promote and disseminate the music of 'Canadian composers; Its library houses 14,00'0 scores to date, both published and unpublished; some 3500 · recordings,' biographical files and program notes on·over 500 Canadian composers. Syores may be borrow.ed free of charge and CD listening facilities are available. The CMC also operates a worldwide mail order CD Distribution service for its own CE~TREDISCS label as well as for independent contemporary Canadian music recordings. The CMC provides serve ices tb its '!Ssocia~e composers including archival services, printing and binding services, registration of all new works, distribution services, and rqy~ alty payments. Currently the CMC is undergoing a massive digitization of its over 1.4 million pages of music to be availabl.e on the Internet in the near fijture.
