IN THE JAZZ LISTINGS by Sophia Perlman With the weather that's hit us, as of time of press, it's tempting to never leave the house, but why not bundle up and venture right out of the city? The Amis du Jazz concert series is offering, as always, a great bunch of concerts this month, with performances by the Richard Whiteman Trio, the Brian Ruse Orchestra, Bill McBirnie and the Sean Bellaviti Trio, and the Melissa Stylianou Trio. And for those who think that Sonya is too far, but North York mightjust be manageable. the Toronto All Star Big Band is presenting an afternoon concert with legendary trumpeter Clark Terry Sunday, Feb 19, after which you will just have time to whip downtown for the other Clarke (Terry) who is performing with Mays (Bill), Perry (PJ), Basso (Guido) and Swainson (Neil) at the Glenn Gould Studio in a Classics and Jazz concert which features original jazz compositions as well as pieces by Mendelssohn, Debussy, Bach and others. Some great vocalists are in the clubs this month. The Montreal Bistro features an event titled "Jaymz Bee presents: Good Things Come In Three's.
