FESTIVAL OF CREATIVE MUSIC ➤ June 16 to 19 Hamilton, ON Zula (Music & Arts Collective Hamilton) Presents has been organizing the annual Something Else! Festival of Creative Music since June 2014, along with the yearround series of the same name. The festival (and the series) focus on programming world-renowned visiting artists, revered local musicians and young up and comers, specializing in newer traditions in jazz, improvised music, experimental sounds and the avant-garde. Every year in June, music takes over the Burlington downtown and waterfront. The largest local music event of the year features an eclectic combination of emerging artists, blasts from the past and current performers. JOE’S ARTSFEST ➤ June 2 to 11 Hamilton, ON Started three seasons ago, St. Joe’s ArtsFest features Southern Ontario artists performing in the fantastic acoustics of St. Joseph’s RC Church in Hamilton. SUMMER OPERA LYRIC THEATRE ➤ July 28 to August 6 Toronto, ON Summer Opera Lyric Theatre and Research Centre brings together young vocalists, students, professional singers and teachers of great stature.
