We did two photo shoots months apart with a lot of different ideas. I mostly went with the flow!” Tapestry artistic director Michael Mori was happy to fill in the blanks: “We were looking for a way to capture the essence and the newness of it. This world premiere production introduces new text, new music, opera singers, and live orchestra to the concept of Morris Panych’s original physical theatre piece, which was an enormous hit. Akakiy staring into the tuba gives us a taste of the character’s contemplative psychology, introduces the new dynamic element of music, and teases the surrealist world that the show traverses.” FEATURES 7 OPENER | The More It All Changes ... | DAVID PERLMAN 8 FEATURE | Gogol’s Overcoat Revisited and Reinvented | JENNIFER PARR 12 FEATURE | Metropolitan United’s Musical Ministry | MATTHEW WHITFIELD 14 FEATURE | Delving into Why: SAM SHALABI’S LAND OF KUSH | COLIN STORY 68 WE ARE ALL MUSIC’S CHILDEN | MJ BUELL 84 FOR THE RECORD | Five Composers in the JUNO Spotlight | DAVID JAEGER ACD2 2451 - 10CD BrucKNer the cOmPlete sYmPhONIes With the release of a sumptuous boxed set of 10 discs, the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal directed by Yannick Nézet-Séguin completes a 10 year project to record the complete symphonies of Anton Bruckner.
