The room has this comfortable vibe, as if you’re always surrounded by generations of friends. You can walk in for breakfast, when there’s no music playing and the walls quietly sing anyway. One day in 2009, artist David Crighton walked in with a signed and framed reproduction - his painting of the quirky Queen Street West Toronto building. It was an unexpected gift from a deeply creative guy who just “gets” buildings the way some people just “get” music. A graduate of OCA in the 70’s, his fascination with architecture and art led to a lifetime of capturing the diverse architecture of Toronto and Southern Ontario (and some other places too!), in pen-and-ink and bright acrylics. You can enjoy other examples of his work, and see some of your own other favourite places at davidcrighton.ca ACD2 2871 French repertoire of the 17 th & 18 th centuries, flute works performed by flutist Anne Thivierge, joined by gambist Mélisande Corriveau and harpsichordist Eric Milnes. 8 FOR OPENERS | Intersections STORIES & INTERVIEWS 10 JAZZ NOTES | “Beautiful Gumbo” – Long Live the Rex | ANDREW SCOTT 12 IN CONVERSATION | Sharon Azrieli on the AMPs at Ten | SHARNA SEARLE 15 SPEAKING FOR THEMSELVES | A True Reunion --Tafelmusik & Bruno Weil | MJ BUELL 17 Q & A | Art Uplifted as Dance & Music Intersect | DAVID PERLMAN “The flute speaks & touches as if it had been revealed to mankind on a glorious day of creation” – Raymond Meylan, La flûte 23 ACD2 2424 Choral music from the Romantic era by Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Verdi, Brahms, Meyerbeer, Gounod, Tchaikovsky & Fauré.
