I have to say, though, that mostly it leaves me feeling ... . unaffected. And I thi1;1k that is a rather good thing. How so? Well, first, as one whose business is to digest and encapsulate the monthly music scene, I am reminded every moment that Livent's concerts are the garnish, rather· than the meal-fewer than a dozen out of clo11e to 400 this issue, for example. In fact, even at the Ford Centre, fewer than half the. concerts scheduled for the period were Livent's. The others are the work of the kind of local groups that are the bedrock of music in the city--the Amadeus Choir, the Bach Children's Chorus, the North York Symphony, .... The list goes on. (And their concerts will too!) ICs nice that people are working hard to "save the season". Its nicer still that whatever happens to Livent, the pages of this magazine will still be full to bursting with concerts of people who month after month, year after year, in halls little and large, produce music becau11e it is the life 1 they live daily, with energy, passion and commitment.
