He has been reiriventirig, refining and changing his musical expression since he i;:ame to Toronto in 1961 with a scholarship to Oscar Peterson's Jazz School. All of his music, whether recorded or live, features impressionistic awareness of world music sources: Iran, Japan, Africa, India, and South America Geordie has released 5 acoustic and electro-acoustic jazz· albums to his Sonavista catalogue: Bridge to Everywhere, Out In the Open, Earthtime, Simplexity and Cross Culture. Some percussionists study classical world masters, but Geordie utilizes his drum set and percussion to carry his own original concept, thus creating a multiple cultural awareness, which threads through all of his music, as does improvisation. He also remains resolute in all recorded releases and live concerts by featuring user-friendly music. 22 Wholenote DECEMBER 1, 2000 - JANUARY 31, 2001 TORONTO SCHOOL OF MUSIC CANADA Honorary Chair: Maureen Forrester President: Colin Yip Dean: Mary Liu Address: 349 Queen Street West, Suite 201 Toronto, ON M5V 2A4 Phone: (416) 260· 1882 Fax: (416) 222·8928 The Toronto School of Music Canada is a joint effort by a large group of worldcrenowned musicians bringing first-rate musical instruction to Canadians as well as international· students.
