Elmer Iseler Singers begin their 2001-2002 schedule with a program that includes local composer Christos Hatzis' Everlasting Light, for alto, tenor, bass, percussion and choir. The soloists (Daniel Taylor, Benjamin Butterfield, Russell Braun and Beverly Johnston) are first rate. The choir will complete the program with Palestrina's Missa Papae Marcelli._, The same night, the Toronto Camerata, under Melva Treffinger Graham, present a world music celebration with their guests Ballet Creole; and the Toronto Mendelssohn Youth 12 Wholenote OCTOBER 1, 2001 - NOVEMBER 7, 2001 performers. Two noteworthy choirs take part in Arts'Etobicoke's Autumn ArtsFest on the weekend of Oct 26-28. On the Friday night, Jerzy , Cichocki's Victoria Scholars give a concert featuring music for 'male choir from several different eras in music history. And on Sunday, October 28, the Canadian Singers, conducted by Harvey Patterson, present "Will the Real Canada Please Stand Up?" with magician Danny Hamill. Also on Oct 26, the awardwinning Exultate Chamber Singers celebrate their 20th anniversary with a special gala concert presentation of Carmina Burana by Car! Orff. John Tuttle's 20-member choir has added 20 more singers and soloists from its alumni roster-for the performance. The current choir will also sing Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms on the same program. Both pieces will be offered with two-piano and percussion accpmpaniment. Earlier in the month, the choir - which won the chamber choir category in the 2ood CBC Choral Competition -· will participate in the Let The Peoples Sing competition as Canada's entry. Choirs from around the world compete for the coveted Rose Bowl. Tune in to CBC's Choral Concert on Sunday mornings for more details. The following evening (Oct 27), the celebrated Vancouverbased vocal ensemble Musica Intima will appear in concert at St. Clements' Church. Twelve professional singers make up the personnel of Musica Intima, they are self -directed and they perform a wide variety of vocal music.
